The Dumeril's Boa I got from Mars this past year fed rather enthusiastically on hopper mice the first six times I fed her. After she shed I switched her over to rat pups. She will eat them, but she will wait anywhere from 30 minutes to overnight to strike and constrict them. Not the immediate feeding response she had with the mice.

so of course she associates that smell with food. After a few weeks of ratpups she'll catch on, and the feeding response will be back.

She has at this past posting been fed a total of twelve times half of them now rat pups. I'm curious if they associate rats at all with food in the wild.
