If the cage will be indoors you can use plastic or fiberglass window screen. But, to keep the cham from climbing on the screen and possibly snagging its claws, make sure there are lots of pathways, perches, and bushy plants inside. If the cage is outdoors you should use metal mesh of about 1/4" or 1/2" mesh size. Galvanized metal mesh has a lot of sharp edges so you could paint it with latex or vinyl paint. Check with a farm supply for rabbit/guinea pig cage wire. It is often coated.

Rustoleum sells a spray, and can paint used for tool handles, it's a plastic grip paint. I use that on all my galv. screen. I also use the 1/8 " screen, and spray it with several coats of that spray coating. It also comes in a few differnt colors..
