interesting discovery in cham senses

chamsrcool Jan 06, 2005 12:05 PM

i think chameleons may be able to sense other reptiles in or around their habitate/cage. Now i know it was a bad idea but i had reasoning as to why i did this. I placed a crested gecko into my veiled's 2x2x4 cage to test it out as a nice home. I added bark tubes for hiding and figured the gecko is nocturnal/the cham diurnal....the gecko stays in the depths of the trees/the cham on the vines near the top and open spaces in the shade. so i thought hey nothing would happine.

well it worked great for about two days then the cham stopped eating and starting roam around the cage. i then took the crested gecko out (about 5 days after last meal of cham) and left any thing i added earlier to see if she was just exploring the new additions but the next after the gecko was taken out she ate about 5 crickets and is still eating very well

so is their some way she felt that the gecko was there becuase he only came out at night while she was sleeping?
I just thought it was a strage moment.
