Fecundity in Honduran Milks

snakepimp Jan 06, 2005 01:10 PM

I have a 1.2 trio of 3rd year breeder Hondurans, and I am wondering what kind of clutch sizes to expect.
One female is 430grams, and 1 female is 680grams.
They have already been cycled, and I am really excited to get them going. I am having a hard time getting a range of how many they can/will/should produce.
My corns, for whatever reason, all tend to beat the averages. Over the past 2 years I have averaged 20.666> viable young per female per year.
I am not expecting those kind of numbers out of the milks, most of the clutches I see are 6-9 eggs, but I wonder what the low/high range is.
Thanks for any help

Of course it's my opinion, I said it, didn't I?
Are they using the beef to control your mind? That stuff in your cigarettes, your beer and the wine Is working its way, infiltrating your spine, Today is the day you should wake up and find That they’re using the beef to control your mind. --(excerpt from a musical I wrote...)

It mostly depends on each individual female, size, age and weight, some lay small clutches of large eggs while others might lay large clutches of small eggs.

To give you an idea, I have a large 6'+ Het-Albino female who always gives me 8 to 10 kiwi sized eggs while most other big girls will lay on average a dozen smaller eggs.

You are correct in expecting 6-9 eggs on average

I'd expect six to ten eggs per female, though you could get more. There will probably be at least some infertility, though not necessarily so. I spread my females across more males and so project my females to produce 4-6 babies net. But I'm trying to be conservative in my estimates because i'd rather produce more snakes than i take orders for, than the other way around. Lastly, i'd guess one or the other will double clutch and the 2nd clutch will probably be close to the same size as the first. Both could double, and neither might.

Now to see what my friend marc says in his reply.... (I'm sure we'll differ in our opinions, and that's why i always stress to people that i'm expressing my opinions. I like this: "Don't believe all of what anyone tells you, including me."

that is good, conservative, and concise information.
Good luck this season.
