All we hear about are the big obvious Genetics. What about....

billcherep Jan 06, 2005 03:19 PM

Are there proven genetics that are not blatently obvious that anyone has proven out. Unlike Pied, or albino, maybe it has a minor visual trait. There have to be some out there. Just curious. I know no one would want the anyway but I am curious. The breeders have to come across some small genetic trait while breeding WC.
Does this even make sense?
Its been a long day!

Yellow bellies started out like that. Rumor has it you could buy a proven YB genetic male for $800 right off Amir's table years ago. It wasn't until they made an ivory from it that they gave much thought to the funny belly looking normal we now call Yellowbellies.

Gentic bandeds, black backs, burgandy (not hypos), granite, yellowbelly, cinnamons were once thought of as odd looking normals...the fireballs and lemons were thought to just be normals at first too...as well as het red axanthics (thought to just be normal black backs)....I'm sure there are more....
And hell the pied was thought to be one with real bad burn scars on it when first imported from what I remember....
