Wow, the saga of Gooner and his recovery:
I took Gooner in a while ago for possible respatory illness. He was sputtering while breathing and violently expelling mucus. Two weeks of antibiotics later, this has stopped. Trying to get a stool sample, however, was more difficult. Four days and zero "presents" later, I was able to feel a hard lump in his abdomen that was visible without any prodding. I force fed infant electrolyte, small animal "anorexic diet", and baby food with a mineral oil chaser daily. After nine days, the blockage was passed. It turned out that a waxworm that Gooner had eaten before the coughing had started had not been digested, but instead lingered and became hard. It is very odd that it was passed whole though, as that would mean that the same uro that is able to disfigure feeding syringes in two days was not able to shred the human equivalent of a perogy. Odd. Anywho, the real cause of Gooner's illness seems to be a gaggle of nasty parisites that I start treating for tomorrow. Is it a bad thing when your vet tells you " I don't know what they are, but this will get rid of them?"
