DOR polyzona pictures from Mexico for Shannon.....

chrish Jan 06, 2005 04:51 PM

Shannon,

I don't know if these are the pics you are referring to, but here are the only pics I have of polyzona. All three were DORs.

The first is from near San Andres Tuxtla in central Veracruz

The next large adult was just hit by the car in front of us on a quiet road on the Veracruz/Tabasco border, right near the coast -

This last baby was found in the Pantanos de Centla biosphere reserve road (south of Frontera, Tabasco). This is probably getting into an intergrade zone with the Yucatan form.

Don't know if these are what you were looking for, but they are the only polyzona pics I have.

The first one is hard to make out cause its been ran over so many times but that second one is a killer polyzona,The thrid one is most likely a blanchardi but may have a hint of poly in it.

Thanks again for the pics,

Yeah, it sucked too! We were hunting a road with NO other traffic on it. We passed an area with a big pile of palm fronds next to the road and I thought to myself "Man I would love to dig through that! I bet there would be a big milksnake or something!". We drove down another 1/2 mile and turned around. As we were turning, we saw a car coming towards us so we waited for it to pass. We turned around and there was this 4-5 beauty thrashing on the road. I almost cried! It was my first "mexican" milksnake ever and my first big milksnake.

Chris, thanks for posting those. Really nice looking milks. Its too bad that on three different trips, you've had to find three DORs like that. What a bummer to a vacation!!

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the pictures of these really nice animals. Like Scott said, too bad they were all DOR. Hope to you out west in the new year!
