AbstraKt Jan 06, 2005 07:10 PM

I cant tell what color my beardies going to be, if hes going to have any. Right now hes 3weeks and is still darkish tan. He doesnt show much color. I can tell its the the stress color because hes been doing good with his tank and handling. Is there a way to tell?

There really is no way to know... yuou can get a colorfull hatchling that will dull to nothing by adulthood and a grey hatchling may color up to be the best dragon anyone has ever seen... it's really a roll of the dice....

A word of warning to you. You should not have been sold a dragon that young. They require extra special care and the stress alone from the move is very bad for them. Do a lot of research please.

as to color...
I breed Florida Oranges. Like all the other breeders out there breeding for color, there will be a mix in each clutch. Some will start off smok'n and dull out while others start off blah and then in one shed, BAM day glow. Some will never brighten up while others will never tone down. I have yet to hear of any clutch from any breeder that was 100% screamers.

Sooooo... if you buy a baby, you gamble. You cannot tell what it will grow up to look like. Buying from a reputable breeder where you can see the parents will give you an idea but not a guarantee.
