Humidity questions

tim5580 Jan 06, 2005 07:16 PM

So if I build a cage out of melanine, do I have to go through extra sealing to have it hold humidity? Or doesn't melanine hold humidity well? I thought it did.

The moisture issues with melamine has nothing to do with holding humidity - it holds humidity fine.

The reason why melamine should be sealed for high humidity species is that it can break down, bubble and split after prolonged exposure to moisture.

This is especially noticable with the cheaper melamine and when strong disinfectants are used.
