Bearded Dragon nipping other dragon and bobbing his head question......

turtlequest Jan 06, 2005 09:20 PM

I have two female (or so i am told) bearded dragons. I know one is female for sure. The smaller dragon is beginning to catch up with my bigger dragon in size and noticed something strange happening. They have been living together peacefully for about 10 months now. For the last 2 weeks i have caught my slightly smaller bearded dragon chasing the other one, nipping him in the neck and then bobbing his head in a slow but solid motion.

Is this bad, or is the smaller dragon hitting some kind of reptile puberty where he has to prove how tough he is to the other dragon. Most of the day they sleep on each other, so its not total warfare.

And to my surprise, the bigger dragon just runs away...doesn't even try to nip back.

Whats going on here?

Thanks.

the biting on the back of the neck...thats breeding behavior...sounds like you didnt get two females there...lol..so unless you want baby beardies running around i would separate them immediatly and pray that she didnt get hit up yet lol
