How old and how long have you had this specimen?

jkuroski Jan 07, 2005 01:44 PM

She is a WC so I don't really know her age, but if I had to guess I would say she is 2-3 years old. I have had her in my care for about a year. She is an aggressive feeder and aways hungry, but very tame and laid back while in hand. I really like these guys, they are probably one of my favorites, but then again I love all scrubs so much.

nice looking snakes....
how are your's when it comes to removing them from the cage??
Mine hates it..i use a hook but she still tries to bite...once i get ahold of her though she does pretty good....

Thanks for the compliments.

I find that with many scrub whether trustworthy in hand or not have a strong feeding response, and are defensive of their territory. I always advise to remove them with a hook. As far as the myth that all scrubs are killers is simply silly. They all have their own personalities just like all other pythons and their are high strung one and more laid back ones. I have found that with proper handling most calm dowm after a few minutes and if you don't make any stupid movements like wave you hand in from of them, you are usually ok. They are a highly under rated group of animals that have nothing to gain but more recognition within the herp community. Good luck with your animals, and I would enjoy seeing some pictures if you have any.
