Okay, so my big male corn Query didn't eat last week, and he's been fairly restless, and out in the open almost every time I look at him. Today I went to feed him again, and again he's showing no interest in the mouse, constantly roaming back and forth in his rubbermaid, and trying to get out and cruise around every single time I pull open his bin. Now, keep in mind I've had this snake for over a year, and he's always been a good eater.... (he'll only eat one mouse at a time, but other than that only refuses sometimes, and only when in shed). Today it hit me.... could he for some reason have decided it's mating season? In the middle of July? He's never been brumated, and used to live in a basement (just moved, and the snakes now have a window) so I suppose his internal clock might have just kicked in or something.... any thoughts?
If it is a mating drive, how long before he gives up and starts eating again? I'd introduce him to a girl and see what he does, but my one female that's old enough to breed (was bred before I even got her) is a naturally smaller corn, and I don't have a scale to check her actual weight right now.
I guess, basically I'm wondering
a)could he think it's mating season, and
b)how long before he eats again if he doesn't get to mate?
Thanks,
Dawn
