samoID is that sunflower seeds and lettuce in the food bowel? If so take it out ASAP. Sunflowers are deadly and lettuce has no nutrient value for the uro. You should feed him/her collard green, escrole, dandilion greens some fruit and vegis. You can go onto any of the sites and get a full list of good food. If the food bowel is not what I think it is sorry. Cage looks good too.

it's endive, and wild bird seed...damn i didn't even check if that was sunflower seeds!!!

It's the shells that are the problem with sunflower seeds - if they're hulled (just the seed, not the shell), then they're fine, though kind of fatty.

Cage looks nice and big - I'm sure Amon appreciates the room to run around! He's such a cute little guy.

Plain white millet seed is relatively cheap and fairly easy to find.

well i did it!i found those seeds in pet store and already put them along with endive into Amon's food bowl!
i hope he'll like it!

Try Pretty Bird Premium Finch Food that is what Iwas told when I got my mali and was feeding him the wrong seeds too. I did and he did not like the seeds at all. He loves lentil and beans. You have to take out the kidney beans (so I've been told) so I take out any bean that looks like it. I also found the bird seeds at PetSmart if you have that store where you live.

Very nice tank!
I believe that putting Ra in with a nice female has enticed him to grow a little more (I think the hormones started kicking in, he's over 2 years old), plus the large 125-gallon tank and their underground burrows helped too.
Any animal will do well if placed in an environment that suits their needs. Ra has grown quickly in the last few months.
That big tank is a great start to Amon's growth, health and well-being. Keep it up.

if you look at him now and the photo i have in my gallery i'd say he's 5-6cm longer!(2,3in)
today i made a mistake...i gave him sunflower seeds, because i wasn't careful...morron me!

Sunflower seeds are OK if the shells are removed.
I've given Ra some waxworms now and then (roughly once a month). Supposedly, they give young uros a growth boost (since they have a lot of fat and nutrients), they lack an outer shell so they are nice and soft. Ra will wolf them down if he sees them. I leave the waxworms in the food bowl and they will feed on his greens and shortly after that, Ra will investigate the movement coming from his food bowl and quickly eat them all! The waxies have gorged themselves on his greens and he's eaten the waxies now filled with greens, it's win-win.
He is normally fed endive, escarole, and dandelion primarily. He'll get the odd berry or two and sometimes I'll give him a few peas or green beans.
