Yet another Poo Question. (bit of an essay)

kay1688 Jan 07, 2005 06:54 AM

I bet everyone is fed up with reading these. my young beardie has worried me a bit because usually he goes to the toilet fine but today it was really runny. i have had him a couple of months now. he has been feeding on wax worms mealies and crickets. he doesn't drink from the bowl so i mist him twice a day
(he sips it sometimes while i am spraying) i give him greens but he doesn't touch them (no lettuce). any advice at all will be so much appreciated. want to make sure he is really happy.
any tips on how to get him to eat his greens without starving him.(which i don't want to do)
kay on behalf of frank (strange name i know but i have my reasons lol)

if he continues to have runny and very smelly poo, take a fresh sample to your herp vet for a fecal (and the dragon too). Runny and smelly poo is a sign of parasites and should be treated as soon as possible.

I agree, it sounds like a fecal is in order..... What you can do is get some parazap and give the tea for about a week and if the poo hardens and the smell leaves it's more than likely parasites and a fecal and vet visit should definately be arranged... just wiat for a week or two till the parasite load is back and cuasing smelly, runny poo or you'll be wasting your time. or just set up a fecal in the first place and you won't have to mess with all that.

Later,
Robert

He seems to be fine now. the day after he didn't do anything but then his poo looked and smelt normal and has been like that since. should i still arrange to go to the vet?

I just find it amazing that you've taught him to use the toilet.
