Leaving for 2 days - what to do w/ BD?

shell12 Jan 07, 2005 01:28 PM

I have to leave for 2 days and I was wondering what I should do with my bd, 5 months old. We have timers on his lights, but I'm worried about food. Could I just put a lot of food in his cage? I can't bring him with bcuz we are staying in a hotel. Any advice???

He will be fine for two days without food. Reptiles can actually go for quite awhile without food if they are healthy. When my son was born my husband forgot to take care of my reptiles and my bearded dragon spent 3 days in the dark with no food, and she was just fine.

I would leave a large helping of mixed greens and pellets if you have them. Silkworms are about the only insect you can safely leave in the cage. You can leave a pile with some silkworm chow and they will pretty much stay were they are left and the dragons can eat them as they feel hungry. 5 month old dragons should have a small dish of water as well. Make sure the dish is small enough the dragonws can get into it to poo and thus soil it.

It shouldnt be much of a problem. Before you leave feed him until he cant eat anymore. He should be fine
