Hi!
We received a new Tegu at our rescue IN THE MAIL. The phone number listed is ficticious, the address won't come up on mapquest or anywhere and the guy is not listed in any phone book. I have contacted everyone in the same are with the supposed same last name and can't track him down. All I am wanting to find out is what he was feeding it!! It is an Argentinian black and white. I know what they are supposed to eat but also know if it hasn't been being fed right I will need to gradually switch it. It is eating a little but only a little. It has a bad burn on the top of its head which the vet says will probably need to be cut open and treated because it is not healing right. It also has several parasites which we are treating it for. Does anyone know of a person in the Chicago suburbs that was trying to get rid of a Tegu. Although it was in pretty poor shape we just want to find out more about the past care to make it more comfortable and better able to cope.
Although can you believe someone would MAIL a tegu express postage and not have a phone number or anything. If we had been gone the poor thing would have died. It also arrived on the worst weather day of the year amidst a terrible ice storm in our area. Luckily the post office knows us and the mailperson knocked to let me know she left it at the post office so it wouldn't freeze in her truck and they sent a special truck out to deliver it. We did not mind taking it in and had plenty of room plus knowledge on care but was very UNHAPPY on the handling of this!!
