breeding behavior

viperbitex Jan 07, 2005 05:03 PM

Hello. I have posted here several times about my nastey mean male blue tegu. Well, he's still mean, but that is beside the point. My female went threw brunation (spelling?) She went off feeding for about 2 months and she's been eatting well again for about 3 weeks now. The male has never turned down a meal. I decided that it was time to reintroduce them to each other. Last year they lived together for about 3 months, and the male was very into the female (if you know what I mean ) but I'm pretty sure that she was too stressed out from being moved to be in the mood for love. Well, I put them together in her cage, and they were crawling all over each other for quite some time, but deffinately not mating, one would go under the other, crawl out and then the other would crawl under that on and so on and so forth, doing laps around their cage. I have not witnessed any aggressive behavior between the two, but I have also not seen him try to get at her. Last year he was very aggressively trying to breed with her. How long should I keep them together, or should I say, is there a time period that I could know if they are into each other or not? Thanx for reading!!
