stand back.....I think she might explode....

gray Jan 08, 2005 09:26 AM

....well, I haven't posted here in a while but I thought this would be interesting to share. I've seen a number of ovulations this season but none quite like this one. The photos still don't seem to catch the same perspective as seeing it in person. I've seen a few human females that looked like they might actually pop and this little female appeared to be in a similar predicament. There was just an incredible difference between the girth just in front of the ovulation and the ovulation area itself. You can see it pretty well in the first photo. In the fall, I was hesitant to put her in a breeding trial because she was just 8.5 lbs but she was also 3.5 years old and of very good muscle tone so I decided to proceed. She was courted by a male Jungle for a full month. Due to unfortunate circumstances (the loss of a male Jungle in another breeding trial), I chose to move that male into another trial. He was replaced by a really nice normal with beautiful pattern & color. He courted her for another full month before this happened. Notice he is still back there doing his job in these photos. Should be interesting to see what I get from this. Quite possibly I will get a mixed litter as I am confident that both males copulated with her. Good luck to everyone as things begin to really heat up for this breeding season. gray

You have a great eye for picking normals that look great as adults. Good luck on your breeding.

She has such terrific color that I worked for over a year to obtain her sister (Tierra). Her sister's color is even more intense....and it is pure orange. She is also being bred this year but so far I haven't observed any swelling.

Is that female a normal? She looks like a hypo. Thanks Andy

...personally I don't consider her normal at all but as far as are labeling system goes she only qualifies as a "normal". She is not a hypo but I haven't seen many hypos that I would trade her for.

I took the pair I received from you into school. The kids loved them and they talked me into housing them there for the time being. They are working on names now.

It's neat to know my babies will be bringing about possible new herpers of the future. Kodos for giving your students the chance to be around them!

Shes gonna throw some smokin boas. Hopefully I will get a chance to see some of them in April .

gray Jan 08, 2005 03:45 PM

I wish they would be here by then Ryan but it looks more like a May birthing. If you delay your visit until May there should be lots to see around here.

Oh I see. Oh well.. I will be driving back and forth a few times over the next year or so I should get to see them at some point .

Good Luck!
