puffing up

nikon Jan 08, 2005 09:54 AM

Ny ornate has been puffing up a lot lately and I didn't know if it's something that I shoudl be worried about? Started when I gave him a little bath (soaked him). I put him in the waterand he got all puffy, took him out, dried him offf and put him back in his tank. Looked like he was gonna pop cause he was soooo puffed up. He has been doing it on and off for no reason the last few days. big deal or not?

Usually a response to feeling threatened. As long as he's "de-puffing" should be ok. Try not to do anything that could be stressing him out.

my guys also puff out when they go from a cooler to a warmer temp so sometimes if they were on the cool end and i put them in the water they expand to absorb more heat. they will puff up and expand under their basking spot too
