I have a Nikon coolpix 4100 model digita camera. My pics are on the Nikon website. What can or should I do to get them here. Thank you.

The way I do it is I resize my images as if sending them in an email. I upload them onto the Kingsnake gallery and post from the Browse list on the Forum post sheet.

Chris, if they're sized appropriately for the web--around 4 x 6 inches at 85 dpi--you should just be able to insert the url from the nikon site into the "image url" spot on the posting form. To avoid typos, it's best to go to the image on the nikon site (or, for other readers, whatever site your pix are stored on/served by) and copy the full url that appears in the address window at the top of your browser when you are looking at the picture you want to post to the forum; then go to the forum, initiate a post, and paste that url into the image url location. NOTE that the location already pops up with http: already there; select that and paste the entire url into the location, and double check to make sure that the "http" stuff appears only once)

Usually when you use a digicam the pic is too big for the web and is in a JPG format then you must resize it and use the photo gallery since it cahnges it from JPG format to URL.

Some cameras have settings for email res or small-res photos so suitable pix can be taken from the get-go.
But whether or not a camera has such a setting, i'd strongly recommend people own and learn to use at least some rudimentary photo editing software app--there are probably even free ones available. Maybe the Windows users on the forum can suggest cheap or free solutions. Mac users like myself may find the free iPhoto program more than adequate, though Photoshop's apps--Elements, for those on a budget, or Photoshop, for those with very serious editing needs--are great.
At a minimum, people will often want and need to crop a picture. And the most rudimentary edting function of all may be simply the ability to save the pic at a different size (dimensions and resolution).
Your method is also a solution.

this has nothing to do with pictures...
i would just like to thank you for your thoughtful posts ranging across the spectrum. this isn't a blank check endorsement(for those that may think otherwise) but approval for the WAY you organize and present discussions.

damn! before i finished reading your post i had already thought of four or five ways i was going to spend that blank check. shoot.
terry
seriously, thanks. I try. And it does occur to me sometimes too that my points have more to do with the methodology than the conclusion.
ps: You are one great guy, dave. NOW can i have that blank check?
