Question about hardened urates , please help.

jonjpl2 Jan 08, 2005 03:24 PM

My male redtail has got a lump right above his vent. He is about 8 months old. The lump feels like a marble almost. Is it possible for him to be constipated? What could it be? From what I'd read I think it is hardened urates. He's been like this for about 2 weeks now.I've soaked him to help with bowel movements, but nothing. It's been 3 weeks since last feeding. He shed last week, thats why he didn't get fed last week. Any one have the same thing happen? If it is hardened urates, what do I do????

Thanks

I put luke warm water in a cooler ( like you'd use on a picnic for drinks)I ALWAYS put the water bout 1/2 of the snakes back to belly to prevent drowning. I also check on it while in the cooler. They will really keep the luke warm water, warm for awhile, plus, the top keeps em from getting GONE.
This usually stimulates a bowl movement & release of acids.
Good luck & keep us posted.
