Sterlite Containers............

MightyPython Jan 08, 2005 08:21 PM

Someone suggested to me below that if I can't afford to get a larger tank for my BP, to get a large sterlite for now. Anyway, I was wondering what heat sources you use for something like that? For my current tank I have a UTH on one side and a heat lamp sitting on the screen top on the other side. The way I have it setup, it keeps the temps cooler on one side and warm on the other. Anyway, I need suggestions for how to heat one of those things so I don't melt anything and what substrate to use as well. Thanks!

Still on a budget?
lol Me too!

A human heating pad set on low will work, just remember that they are not meant to run twenty-four seven and you'll have to hook up a thermo- rheostat just for safty. They are also not meant to have weight set directly on them so, get some risers to keep the sterilite about 1/4" above the heating pad. Set your sterilte on the heating pad covering 1/4-1/3 of the bottom, this will give you a heat gradient. As far as substrait I prefer newspaper, it's easy to clean, it's inexpensive, and it's delivered right to my door.
