Good for Burms, Bad for responsible keepers...

Well NY finally did it,this is what I found on the White Plains reptile Show website:
NY Bill Update: NY Governor Patacki has signed into law legislation that would restrict ownership after January 1, 2005 of the following reptile species: Anacondas, Burmese, Reticulated, and African Rock Pythons, and Nile, Water, Black-throat and White-throat Monitors. Owners of these animals will need to obtain a permit from the NY Dept. of Environmental Conservation after that date to keep any of these animals already in their possession. As per this law, these specific species will no longer be available at our expos beginning with the 1/15-16, 2005 expo.
I am hardly a fan of Uncle Sam telling me what to do, but after the events of this week, I say good for the Burms.
