Sorry I've been MIA lately! I just got a new job and I have been insanely busy
Kearse is now almost 6 months old and about 15" long. He's going to be a tank. He eats everything that moves and several plates of salad a day. More on him later in my funny story
Lola's doing fantastic, she's up over 13" (and almost 7 months old)now! I know there's been a huge debate over the minimealworms, but she was stuck at 10.5" for MONTHS and she's finally growing. That says a lot to me. She even shed out for me - only the second time since we got her in September!
Now for the funny story - we had a rescue dragon here yesterday (just for a few hours, until her new owner could pick her up). She was a normal, I think, but had some really nice yellow around her face. She was about a year old and her previous owner just didn't have the time to give her the attention she deserved anymore. She also had an injury as a baby and didn't have use of one of her legs. Anyway, while she was here, her tank was on a spare table in my kitchen - in the sight of both my other scalebabies. Lola got really skittish - wouldn't eat, kept doing the submissive waving thing and hid under her log. Kearse, on the other hand...WOW. He also wouldn't eat, but for another reason!! He flew down off his branch and spent over an hour head bobbing, beard puffing, and basically trying to claw his way out of his tank to get to her! She was head-bobbing back at him, too. It was amazing to watch, I had never seen such agressive breeding behavior up close and personal before. Kearse was only about half her size, too! (I joked w/a friend of mine that Kearse must have a "thing" for older, crippled ladies LOL). He was headbobbing even hours after she left. I honestly didn't think he was old enough for that! Thank god I have paper up between his and Lola's tank or I don't think he'd ever do anything but pace and head bob at her LOL.
Anyway, she went to a good home and my Dragon's are back to normal this morning. It was fun having another dragon here even if she wasn't staying!
Hope everyone else is doing well. I"ll try to catch up on some posts here today.
Take Care,
Melissa
