Is anyone working on a Sunglow Snow Boa?.............

Hoppy Jan 09, 2005 10:39 AM

With all the morphs out there, I have not heard of this one popping up yet. I am still one generation away from producing one and wondered if anyone else was working on it too? I would love to see a picture if anyone has one.
Thanks

I think Frank Martin been working on it, the Snowglow. Get a hold of him.

Frank Martin did produce some triple hets(hypo het anery and albino) this year with the kahl strain and as far as I know those were the first 100% TH hets from that strain.Triple hets are the key to making the snowglow. Anyways, I know someone who produced sharp strain triple hets in 03 but none were sold to the public, so I think the Sharp Strain TH were produced first. I have a triple het sharp female from this year that Ron Michelotti produced that I will be putting a triple het male to to try to be one of the first to produce the snowglow. You can put a triple het to a DH snow and get a snowglow out of it but your chances of getting one are pretty small unless you have a good sized litter do to the ratios. Hope this helps a little. Heres my triple hets in the making as long as everything goes well! Ghost x Sharp strain

I made 2.2 kahl strain triple hets in 03 and hopefully I will get some production this year. If not I am sure with all of the great triple hets that Frank produced last year that he or someone else will make them next breeding season. I think they will look better than the current snows. Even if they don't the introduction of the hypo gene will make snows that are much heartier and potentially parternless.

name for it is gonna be. I've heard a few different ones but I guess who ever produces the first one will get that job.

I agree that whoever makes it I will stick with that name. I even stuck with the ghost name when I produced them given the history of the name. I missed out on naming the bloody salmons by a few weeks; I would have called them sanguine salmons. If I make these I will probably call them Avalanche to continue the snow/blizzard theme but I would be interested to hear other names people are thinking of.

I like the name SnowGlow, but I won't have any say in the final name since I am WAY WAY far off fomr getting to the point of producing one..

Wow I did not know that they had not been produced yet? I thought for sure that any of the Snow breeders would have already done it. Well it is nice to know that I am finally not way behind on a boa project LOL. I am hoping for sunglow snows in the breeding season of 2007 but maybe not until 2008, it is good to know that I will just be a couple of years behind the rest of the group instead of the normal 5 or so LOL.
Thanks for the info
