suggestion for the moderator

is it possible to create a "new members please read this first" post that will remain at the top of the forum? in it would be a among other things a list of required info before anybody can help

with all of the "HELP my cham is sick, save it" post that we get without enough info to provide any help forcing the first response to be a list of questions that then need to be answered.

lele did a great start below in the "jacksons won't eat" post

-thank you everyone who so unselfishly do post all the help for all the chams in need

Hi Scott,

I am glad you posted this. I sent an email request for the same thing. They are referred to as "sticky's" and are a HUGE help on forums. I never heard back (emailed twice but it was over the holidays) but will try again. If you go to tech support you can try there, too. Let's keep trying!

What do others think???

You know in all honesty it is possible and we can work on that. We now have a chameleon Host who is probably very capable of composing it.

One disclaimer. Visit the Leopard Gecko or Iguana forums. We have one there, and it will not stop constant beginner questions. But I will bring the suggestion up with PHWyvern who is the head of the kingsnake.com community.

i lurk around on the leopard gecko forum and i have never seen that before. i just looked closer and found a link to care sheet at the top which is also present in the iguana forum, which i assume is what you are reffering to. they are in very inconspicous places and are easily over looked. if it is possible they would probally be better seen and more importaltly used if they are bolded or set apart from numerous links above the threads. just trying to help.

I am not offended, inconvenienced or put off at the number of newbee questions, i just suggest it for two reasons...

1) it may provide quicker help to those in need

2) to lighten the load on the very knowledgeable persons
that we have contributing their time.

thanks for considering
scott

If it is the care sheet/FAQ in the header (as skater mentioned) that is not quite what "we" (may I speak for all of us? ) mean. Ebay uses them on their message boards and I linked below. They are posts which never move down thru the threads but always remain as the number one, two, etc. posts. (thus the name sticky's - a cyber post-it note

A sticky note feature is slated for the next upgrade of the forum software. the time table for the next upgrade has not been determined as of yet...they are still working on one major feature which is still being tested and they'd rather do all the minor and major upgrades at one time rather than at different times since the coding of different segments being worked on ties in with one another and could make things difficult.
