A different kind of head rubbing

Justin Stricklin Jan 09, 2005 06:04 PM

Ok, I am going to tell the whole story on this so you might get bored but please read.

Back about may or june I went to a show looking for a small retic and I got to choose from 2 animals. One was a dark unattractive color and the other was this bright orange and silver and white and.... anyways it had a small sore on the top of its head. Nobig deal, it'll heal so I got it. I got it home and set it up. The next day the sore was bigger and seemed to be like a fresh cut wound. It kept getting bigger so I removed all objects from the cage ( a hide box and water bowl ). I soaked it every 2 days so that it got plenty of water and all. After the sore was almost completely gone I put the bowl back in. No hide box just a bowl. The next day it was cut open again. Keep in mind this bowl is not sharp or anything like that. It has no jagged edges. I let it heal again and put a bowl back in there. I htought now thta it is more alid back and all it should not do it anymore. Well the next day (about 1 week ago) it was cut open again. There has been no bad infection becasue I have kept it clean with Virosan and some other stuff. do yuo think I should just soak it every 2 days and not put in a water bowl until it is bigger? I will try to get a pic of it in a few days after she sheds. if you read all this thank you very much. I need a few opinions on this.

Well, seems you didnt pick the smarter of the two. j/k

What i would do is watch it to see how it is rubbing it and try to prevent the injury that way. I would use a tupperware container while it is small, and then use a cat litter pan when it grows larger. You may even want to sand the rims a bit to make them less abrasive. They are overall smooth and shouldnt give you trouble.

Id like to see pics of it.

Well the chances of me catching it rubbing is very slim because when I walk into the room it stares a hole into me.lol. that is what I do use is a tupperware container. Works well with other snakes but not this one. I'm glad my 12 footer is not doing this. That would be a problem. Oh and I don't know if I put this on my last post but the cut is always directly on top of the head. I do not know how it can accomplish cutting itself with an unsharp object on the top of the head like that... weird.
