Does a Leopard Gecko...

LizardLuva Jan 09, 2005 06:06 PM

Fit this criteria:

"Ok, I finally have the ok to get a new pet, so i decided i wanted a reptile, (but really ive wanted one for like 4 years) Im almost 15, so ive decide to get a reptile.

Ive kept alot of things such as:
1. Anoles, we used to treat injured ones from the yard
2. Tiny black frogs, they could sit on ur fingernail, i caught tadpoles when i was younger. I released them into a controlled almost predator free zone
3. One garter snake who i used to feed small fish
4. Large toads, who we again caught and released.
5. and a variety of other small lizards and frogs.

Ok this is for an idea of a second herp.

If room permits, my parents might just be willing to allow me to get another herp, probably from the expo locally.

But i have some requirements/suggestions.

1. Nothing Over 50$, But this is a little flexible
2. Prefer same climate as First Herp, but this is also flexible
3. Able to find at a local expo
4. Same feeding requirements as above
5. 10-20 Gallon tank Maximum, i know this limits, but space could be a factor, but i doubt it will
5. Again not too high matience
6. Not required, but ablilty to being handled is a bonus

Ideas:

Leopard Gecko (****)
AFT Gecko (**) ?
Golden Gecko (**) ?
Tokay Gecko (***) ?
Any Day Gecko (**.5) ?
Small Skink(s) (**) ?
House Gecko (****)
Alligator Lizard (***) ?"

Thank you for reading this huge long post! Hopefully youll reply!

Get a Leopard Gecko dude. I could go on for hours trelling you why. Once you get one, you won't be able to stop yourself from getting mroe and breeding and all the jazz. Not only are they cool, but they come in every color in the crayon box.

At expos, you could find them easy at $25. I got my first 3 years ago for $20 and now I am breeding her and she is laying left and right since.

They don't need anymore then a 20 gallon, even a 10 is fine. They will eat crix and meal worms out of your hand. Only need temps at 85 and 75 at night(thats the temp of my room, so I don't need much heat lamps).

If you don't have an expo or reptile show comming in soon, there are many places to buy from on the net, even me. Half the people on this forum sell leo's.

See, I could go on for hours, if you need any information at all, feal free to ask, this is the greatest Leo forum on the net with the greatest people.

Also E-Mail me if you want.

They make fantastic pets. I now own 22!I went to a reptile show just yesterday and found a person selling normal hatchlings for $10, albino hatchlings for $15 and patternless for $20 so your under $50 could possible even cover the cost of enclosure($10 here for 10 gallon) and even a few nice hides. good luck and hope you enjoy your new friend once you get em.
