Stupid post office

cable2001 Jan 10, 2005 11:01 AM

A few weeks ago, I ordered some crickets and silkworms from Herp Food.com. Well, they lost my order, which they apologized for and said it was because of a mix up due to the holidays. No problem.

The real issue, though, is the delivery. They recommend that if it is cold (which it is) that you specify a "hold/call" for the post office. Sounded logical to me.

Today, I get a call from the post office. I expected a routine notification, and instead got a snotty female clerk that told me that if I ever do this again, I will be charged $290 for a "will call" account.

Anyone else ever hear of that? How friggin hard is it to call me? It's not like everyone in the city is doing that. Am I out of line here?

Pay yourself a revenge, order 1000 crikets and let them rot at the post office.

Or just order 1000 and open the package at the office to "verify" that the whole lot is exact and and just drop the package down and ... run outside !

Heh heh. If I was going to go that far, I'd order earthworms!

and get a lot farther. Hide everywhere. Die. It'll be great. Leave a note mentioning the clerk.

Anyways, I ordered 1000 crix from Wormman and the Post Office here left a note in the box that I had a parcel. When I went to the Post Office they had the package, and said they would have called the day before (on a holiday as well) to have me come pick it up but didn't have the my phone number (new in town). The box had lots of precautions on it like "don't expose to cold or hot weather", "live specimens"... They were wondering what it was, but the crickets were to young to sing.

I ordered a bunch of caterpillars from herpfood and this time I called and warned the post office I didn't want them exposed to the cold and asked if they would give me a ring. No problems, no outrageous fees. Your clerk was just upset she had some work to do by picking up the phone.

Funny revenge plans

I picked up my bugs after work last night. The guy at the counter didn't think there was anything unusual. When I asked him about what the lady on the phone said, he told me that she was his supervisor. He said the big fee is only for people who will be picking up mail every day. He said me picking up the box made sense to him and that it was no big deal. He also gave the distinct impression that he regards his supervisor as a b..... I mean, a witch.

As I left, some lady in the back room glared at me, so I'm guessing that was her. I'm debating whether to call her back today and find out what her deal is. I'm going to need to do this about once a month in the winter, unless I have the bugs sent to me at work.
