Yellow foot passed away...

steffles Jan 10, 2005 01:40 PM

My yearling yellow foot passed away on Thursday evening (or rather was euthanized). She was born with some severe birth defects...apparently she was incubated at too high a temp and should never have hatched at all. Still, I'm sad...please keep Chelsea in your thoughts. Hopefully, she is a huge yellow foot now.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Especially since you obviously were able to raise her to a yearling, it must have been an even more difficult decision to have to give in. But I am sure, that you acted in her best interest and gave a the best possible year she could have.

Hopefully you won't be too discouraged and take on a new, healthy baby at one point.
All the best,

Gaby

Thank you for all of your good thoughts.

Gaby, don't worry, we do still have a 3-year-old redfoot. I'm sure that one day we may get another...maybe not another yellowfoot, because that might hurt too much.

i'm sure that her life, though short, was all the more pleasant for her because of your love and care for her. you gave her a chance where others might not have, and that says a lot for your empathy for her. it's a cliche, i know, but please find comfort in the thought that she is no longer suffering. *hug*
