UVB in a tall cage

AlteredMind99 Jan 10, 2005 01:46 PM

I recently moved my female BD into her new 90gallon aquarium. She loves all the running space! I managed to heat it easily enough but i am having a problem with the UVB. The tank is so tall its hard to get her basking sites close to the top, what method of UVB is best over longer distances? I would say at best she is about 10inches from the light fixture...?

I would personally contact BobMac at www.reptileuv.com. He's a leading authority in UVB lighting. He's got great prices on his SB bulbs and I've got a few of his bulbs in my cages and love them! The bulbs can be adjusted for just about any kind of set up.

Hugs,
Veronica

mercury vapor bulbs shine uvb rays much further than any florescent tube uvb bulb. They do however have to be mounted completely vertical with the bulb facing the ground at 90 decrees (ie so it isn't at an angle) else they burn out fast. They also have to be at least 18" away from the dragon so would do well in a tall tank.
