Anyone use a reptarium/cage questions

Tugi Jan 10, 2005 06:18 PM

I was considering buying a 260 gallon reptarium for my adult texas ratsnake. Do these work well or are they too hard to heat? I was also considering turning my closet into a cage. It would be about thirty inches high, 6 feet long and 28 inches deep. Would melamie be a good material to use? For the front, does plexi glass or glass work better? Thanks

Screen cages are not good for the majority of animals that are popluar in the hobby. There are exceptions of course like chams.. Plexi or glass would work fine...

Reptariums are great for many different reptiles. I know there are people who say only Chameleons but I have successfully kept lizards, chameleons, snakes and tortoises in these enclosures long term. As long as you properly heat and light them you will do fine. As far as I have seen Big Apple Herp has the best prices on them but you can hunt around the web since many companies carry them. Even if you go elsewhere to buy the reptarium you might want to call into Big Apple since they seem to have the most educated staff when it comes to heating and lighting.
