Anyone have any experience with Petsmart apen chips?

BobS Jan 10, 2005 06:34 PM

I have been using shredded aspen for my Blue tongues and colubrids for 15 to 16 years with no problems. Petsmart happened to have huge bags of the regular bedding at a very reasonable price with a decent carry handle. I just put it in a blue tongue enclosure and it seemed FAR less dusty than the compressed shredded aspen. They feed on paper plates so ingesting is generally avoided. Anyone using it for their Colubrids? Good or bad experiences? Thanks for your time. Happy cage cleaning. BobS.

I use it for my ratsnake and haven't had a problem. I feed him in a different container. One drawback is after my snake takes a bath he gets the shavings wet and they stick to him.

I just found this new product I got for my Chondro, and I love it! I"m going to switch all my colubrids over to it as well.

It's coconut husks chipped up. Looks awesome. It wont hurt if ingested either. In this picture I actually have it mixed with what's called "soft soil"... it's basically finely ground coco husk - replaces sphagnum moss to help keep humidity up.

i got it from darryl at creature travlers. Free shipping, and he sends out samples of all his products if you want him to.
