Awsome Monster Cages

Gray_Bandit Jan 10, 2005 06:46 PM

I noticed where somebody else posted a message earlier requesting their site so I figured I would check it out and there cages are awsome. The best feture they have is if you can't afford a huge 8' footer now, you can get a 4 footer and have the expandable side feature added so you can always upgrade to an 8 footer later. I think I'll go with a monster cage rather than a vision. My question is, they offer heights in 17.5 and 11.5. Personally I am for the extra height because that's just the way I like my cages to look, but obviously the less height means easier heat. Would a height of 11.5 accomodate an adult female? I know they don't climb (much) and are rather thin bodied snakes, but a 17' snake is still going to be "round".

(Oh, and anybody have Neodesha's site?)

Make sure of delivery time...I ordered nearly 3 months ago.
Paid in full, and I have yet to see my cage.

3 months! What's taking so long??? Building it???

I built my first retic cage myself. It worked fine but it wasn't anything great. I purchased a Vision next. Terrible for holding humidity. Sagged in the middle and the doors were hard to slide open. Too light for such a large heavy snake. I purchased and Animal Plastics cage based on a few reviews I read.

I now own 3 terrestrial cages and 4 racks from AP. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. And they're HONEST about build and delivery times. Do yourself a favor and order from Animal Plastics. You'll thank me later.

Hey thanks a lot. I'll take your advice and order one from animal plastics. You sound like you've been around the block once or twice with different cages. Besides, there prices are great too. Now my next question is for the doors. You say the visions were hard to slide. The T50 model from AP gives the option of sliding or swinging. The swinging only comes in acrylic, but the sliding comes in arcylic or glass. They say they ship the glass seperate to prevent damage, well that makes me hesitate getting glass because what's going to happen when an angry 300 pound retic throws her body against the glass(I think acrylic flexes)? Should I stick with acrylic sliding, glass sliding, or acrylic swinging? I have no clue which is better at holding humidity or which is stronger. Hopefully you'll know. Thanks again!

I ordered all my terrestrial cages before they had the glass options. I have the swinging acrylic doors. I never had any problem with any retics escaping. I do think the acrylic being flexible will encourage a 'pushing' retic to constantly push on the doors. Perhaps glass would be a better solution to the pushing issue. Jusy give AP a call, they always answer and are more than happy to discuss things with you. I'm sure they can tell you the pros and cons of each. Feel free to email me outside the forum if you have more questions.

the only thing with ap cages is they don't have a 8 footer yet and monster cages 8ft model isnt much more expensive than ap 7ft shipped with heat and light. But also I dont like the idea of monster cages long shipping times or their drop down plexi doors

Burmaboy Jan 10, 2005 09:43 PM

It will be 3 months on 1-15 since my money roder was received.
Email two weeks ago said it would be shipped first thing last week.
Well...here it is, a week later, and still no cage.
I was quoted 4-6 weeks because they were caught behind.
I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever see my cage in this lifetime.

I ordered some Monster Cages In July... didn't get them until the second week of December. I too was quoted 4-6 weeks... and it took FIVE MONTHS TO GET THEM!!! When I first looked at them I was disgusted with the craftmanship. I know a guy who used to work with polypropelene (sp?) and he came over to look them over. His opinion was that they could have been made MUCH BETTER. Really the only good thing about these cages is that they are cheap and sturdy. But like they say, you get what you pay for.

The kicker is I needed these cages before I could get some females to plug into some high end projects. Well, it's now the middle of January and they are not even the slightest bit receptive and I don't know if these projects even have a chance this year. YOU BET I'M UPSET!!!

Stick with a reputable brand or build your own.

I have a very large flat parcel from DHL sitting outside right now.
I finally got my cage today. 3 months. The distributor I bought it from was so impressed he is no longer a distributor.
So if not these guys, who else?
I need the big cages...98x30x18.
And I need a few so cost is an issue. I had 2 quotes averaging
$800.
I will shop around this time. And to think I researched this purchase to no end.
I guess when you pay in full up front, there is no incentive to deliver on time.

I'm a little confused now. Which monster cages are we talking about?

www.monstercages.com or

www.monster-cages.com

Burmaboy, which one did you order? The first site has an 8 footer, but only 2 feet wide at around $400(unless you ordered 2). The second site has an 8 footer the size you described, but for only $500, not $800.

Cory_B, what was wrong with the craftmanship? Cheap and sturdy sounds good to me. Do they look ugly or what?
