Ball caging size???

Chameleon996 Jan 10, 2005 07:22 PM

I work at a small family owned pet store and we have had an adult ball python for quite awhile now. He is the sweetest thing, eats with no fuss, sheds with no problems, and has never struck at anyone.
I recently aquired a cage that measures 5'lx2'dx3'h. If this would work for him I was going to bring him home. From what I have read it would work but I was wondering about the height. Do balls like to climb? I figured with this size I could provide several hides at diferent temps.

This is about the same size as mine, so yes it will work, however keeping a cage that size at the right heat and humidity level can be extra work. But it does make for a nice cage.

Not really as young ones they like it, but mostly they are terrestrial a thick sturdy low branch should be sufficient climbing. But you can do alot with a cage that size.

The cage currently has flimsy sliding plexi glass on the front. I was going to change that to screen doors that swing out. It would probably be better if I go with swinging plexi doors to hold in the humidity huh?

Yes, the screen will let out too much heat and humidity, plexi will work much better, but make sure there is a little bit of venting going into the cage somewere.
