where did you get him from? what lineage is he?
thanks

That ones pretty nice....
I purchased him as a "het" vanishing pattern Honduran, but he is actually showing the trait. I know there aren't such things as het for vanishing pattern yet except in a few cases were the gene is recessive, but I got him anyway for a future project with my Ghosts I hope to produce in '06. It was not so apparent when he was a hatchling. It is coming in more and more as he grows. I got him from a Howard Leong last year in a trade for a couple Thayeri I had extra.
I like him too and thanks for the compliment.

How does vanishing pattern work genetically?
Vanishing pattern is a trait that has not been fully proven to be genetic, although I think most are but not quite figured out yet. It is not a simple recessive trait. You will not produce all vanishing pattern offspring from 1.1 vanishing pattern breeders. Therefore we cannot call an offspring from Vanishing pattern parents Het for vanishing pattern. We simply call them sibs to vanishing pattern offspring or offspring from vanishing pattern parents.
It is sorta like striped and banded california kings. I bred two banded calkings for 4 years and just last year I got a half striped half banded aberrant offspring. All other offspring for 4 years were banded.
Someone correct me if I am wrong or elaborate on this. Hint, Hint,
Terry Dunham or Don Shores.
Thanks,
John Lassiter
Pulling that one abberant out of 4 years, thats kind of odd. So its like that huh? Do you know how many vanishing might come from two vanishing parents? Is it normal then to have a sort of vanishing like yours?
I do not think the outcome is yet predictable. Odds are you will have some offspring that show the trait of vanishing pattern, but I think odds are against procucing a whole clutch of vanishing pattern offspring.

This shot shows the reduced pattern a little better.
