The difference between the Yellow head, for example between the Thai and the Ambon

Leiopython Jan 11, 2005 09:00 AM

I everybody, finally I will have my retic in a couple of month, it's a wonderful yellow head female of 20 feet in length, she is very docile, my friend keep her since 9 years now she bought her as a baby and she never bite anyone. So I'm very lucky to have the chance to buy her. My question is about the difference between the locality of yellow head. Unfortunately, we don't know where she came from. So, I just want to know, if there's some physical difference between the yellow head.

Thank you for your answer!

Do you have any pics. In my opinion I dont think ambons and thais are that different looking at all. But selayer and sulawesi I find to be quite different. They seem to have alot more gold and white on their bodies and all around seem to be lighter in color.

Do some research on the various locales if you get a chance by searching the web and such. There isn't a ton of info, but you should be able to distinguish the difference....
the true Ambon animals actually look extremely different from Thai animals - they both have a very unique look. If you can get some pics up and I'm sure that we can help you out, as it's always nice to know what you have

The only ambons I have seen are nerds and they just dinnt seem different than bob clarks thais but he said he wasnt sure how pure they were so maybe they were crosses

I've got one here now that is a very striped animal, and a great example of an Ambon locale retic in my opinion...I'll post some pics for you to show you what I'm talking about. I've seen quite a few animals that are represented as Ambon area animals, and they are very obviously not 100%. The actual Ambons that I have seen do vary quite a bit, but all have the relatively same characteristics between them. I'll do my best to get a pic up of her when she comes out of shed....

Thank you very much Todd, I really appreciate, unfortunatelly my friend have just taken picture of this retic with a 35mm camera, so I doesn't have pictures right now, I will try to go take picture of her in the next couple of weeks (unfortunatelly she stays at an hour and a half of me and I don't have a car) When I have some I will post her. Thank you very much.

I would love to see a pic of your ambon. I'm always trying to learn how to tell the difference between different locales and it will be nice just to see a pic of it. They are all extraordinary in their own way.
