Question for you....

jch Jan 11, 2005 10:30 AM

I purchased another leopard gecko at the beginning of Dec. The poor guy still has not ate yet. Hes got the hides, the temps etc. He is the only gecko I am having problems with. Do you think I should just try brumating him? Any ideas? His tail is still looking good, but I can't seem to figure out what is going on with him. Thanks for your time.

Leos dont brumate. And as far as not eating i would take him to a vet. could be a number of problems including parasites.

Leos DO brumate. But I wouldn't purposely brumate yours right now. He's probably still stressed from being in a new home. I'd be a tiny bit concerned (not a lot but a little) about the not eating too, by now. I'd expect him to eat a bug or two, even if he is brumating a bit. Taking him to a vet, or taking a fecal to the vet is always a good idea with a new gecko.

Also, try different types of bugs on him, maybe he just doesnt like the cuisine. Can you contact the person you got him from? Find out what he was eating before. Actually, now that I look at the pic again, to me his tail is not quite as plump as I like to see tails. He should be hungry.

BTW he's very pretty
