I couldn't even begin to guess without actually seeing the lizard or at least a pic of it. You might try http://www.enature.com/search/show_search_byShape.asp?curGroupID=7&shapeID=1059 they have pics and descriptions of many but not all native US lizards. Or you might try www.ndow.org/wild/animals/facts/reptiles.shtm they have descriptions of most native Nevada lizards,

As far as keeping it do you have any other reptiles in your home? Be careful because wild caught reptiles can many times have parasites or diseases that won't hurt or kill them in nature but can kill a captive bred one and it would need to be checked out by a vet and quarantined from any you have. I usually like to leave them in nature but that's just me. Either way enjoy it and treat it well whether it is kept or released and make sure you know what type it is through research or individuals so it can have the correct care.

Sorry not to be more help

To post a picture just take a digital pic and save it on your computer. go to "photo gallery" login, and click upload photo. If the picture is too big you will have to resize it, but if not, just browse your files and click on the picture and it will load.

do a google search on them, theres lots of info. if it is one, they make great pets once calmed down. you just have to put your hand in the cage very day, until it gets to know your scent or wutever. then try hand feeding it, and eventually picking it it. caging, it could use a 20 gallon for its whole life, which may be up to 10 years I THINK.... they get an access of 10" easily, and use lots of climbing branches, feed it crickets, slugs/ snails, any garden-variety insects really. if its not an alligator lizard, good luck findinf its species, nick.
