Greetings,
Maybe it's fun for a turtle to lay around all day on a rock, but it sound kinda boring. Any one have a "Turtle Toy" that seems to entertain their RES?

Well let me see... my turtle TURD (yes that was her name when we got her) .. Well we know why she was named TURD..lol.. she rearanges everything in her tank everyday... she plays with the fish... she plays with the fruit and veges that we give her.. she seems to have fun with everything we put in there but most of all she loves the fish...
My turtles love playing with a table tennis ball. i put it into their tank and at first they tried to bite it.. but now they just swat it around and poke at it.
also i have heard many people say that they bought 'bubble wands' for their turtles. the turts like to play in the bubbles!

What exactly do you mean by bubble wands? Is this something made specifically for animals, or do you mean the bubbles made with soap that people use? I only have one RES, and I think he's quite bored in there all by himself. I've thought about getting him a friend, but he tries to eat everything I put in his tank.
Bubble wands are for fish, it is a long airstone connected to a air pump with tubing.

Try this for a hiding cave.
For small turtles, get a piece of Rubbermaid or Tupperware that is the same height as the water level, or even below it, and that has a side wider than the turtle. Leave the lid on. Use a hot knife to cut out one complete side. Use a slightly slanted piece of slate or sandstone to put on top of it, making sure that the stone is about the same size as the container (attaching it with aquarium sealant is option). Now you have a hiding cave and basking spot in one, unless you just want a cave. I've heard of plastic stepping stools used the same way - and you could attach those to the tank with aquarium sealant at the bottom of the legs.
Artificial silk plants are helpful, too.
