Timing of Trip???

snakedudeuk Jan 11, 2005 05:16 PM

Hi all, just a quick question regarding visiting your land! Can anyone give me an idea of the best time to visit Arizona for spotting Herps & arachnids? I was hoping to take a trip in June or July this year, I'll be in or around the Tucson area,, so any tips on places to go would be good & also any legal problems I may encounter while there aould be useful too, I must point out that my only intention is to collect data & to photograoh as much as I can on this trip, I have absolutely no intention of capturing anything without returning it to it's original habitat!

Many thanks in advance,

Mike.

What's known as the "monsoon season" is said to be a good time (though I haven't been there during that period), but I don't think that happens until August or later. Barring that, late spring (April/May) would seem good in my opinion--June/July could be OK too, but it's going to be hot, even after dark.

Again, these are only the opinions of someone who's been to the Tucson area once, in the middle of summer. I have more experience in Texas. There is an Arizona reptile forum out there which should be more helpful.
