if ur new to monitors dont get a nile, and a sav aint that easy either. start with a easier moniter, but if u really want a sav, a rescue could be a happy sucksess story, or a depreesing death. I reccoment and Ackie or something along those lines.

That really depends on what you are looking for.

A good rescue will only allow you to adopt an animal you can handle. The savys I have had have actually been reasonably tame here. A good rescue will also adopt a healthy animal. They often do vet checks. All my savys get fecals and blood work before adoption and are maintained for at least two weeks to ensure healthy feeding and longer usually than that.

However most rescues only have stuff like savys and niles. Nothing fun. On occasion they may get something different in, but on the general whole the majority will be savys...

Be sure to check out the rescue.. There are TONS of reptile rescues starting out right now and not all are good folks... See if they have references for a vet clinic, animal control, or humane societies. A good rescue will NOT mind being asked for references.

Good luck with what ever way you go.

I would investigate the rescues first-They really need a good home and could already be semi tame-Pet stores are notorious for selling unhealthy Herps, and will eventually sell their animals-I got my Savannah monitor as a rescue, and he was extremely friendly immediately. At least check it out to see the temperment and overall health of the animals.
