plant issue

mster Jan 11, 2005 07:10 PM

i have a vield cham and i put a habiscus in her cage for the plant but she goes through them faster than they can grow. i was curious are broad leaf plants bad for chameleons. it is to my understanding the leaves aren't as good as habiscus leaves, therfore she wouldn't go threw the plants so fast. one last thing. if you know of a better strong plant please inform me. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what you mean by "broadleaved plants". Some types of houseplants are not safe for the cham to eat. She may not be as interested in the leaves of Ficus or Schefflera so you could use them instead. Do you put any greens or fruit chunks on skewers in the cage for her? If she decides she prefers these she might leave her plants alone. I think there is a safe plants list on Kammerflage Kreations' website at www.calumma.com
