Please help. My AquaClear 500 filter case cracked and I need a new one. I think it was made by Hagen, but I have had it for over 2 years. I see that Hagen does have a lifetime warranty on their new ones now. Do I get another Aquaclear500- it did work wvery ell, but the outer plastic case cracker, and now it leaks! I bought a new one, and it was cracked in the box! Should I get another aquaclear 500 or look into some kind of outsdie canister filter? I can't find many filters that pump 500 gallons/hour like the aquaclear did. Suggetions please!!!

Canister hands down. XP3 I hear is the best one
I love AquaClears but they're ideal for fish, so-so for turtles.

Thanks for the advise. I did end up getting another aquaclear. I considered the Fluval, but that is more expensive and my turtles love the waterfall from the aquaclear. It flows 500gph, and that is more than the fluval or any other purchased filter. I am happy with what it does, just not with the plastic canister that it is in. The pump is great, and easy to clean. In my 75 gallone tank with 2 RES (about 6 inches each) I rinse the filter out every two - three weeks, changing the sponge or charcoal every other time and the water is crystal clear, so it does work for RES. Again, thanks for you advise.
