Feeding out of cage

jspitler Jan 11, 2005 07:55 PM

I use aspen shavings in my snakes cages, they are Gopher Snakes if it makes a difference. I have read that it is best to feed the snakes in a seperate cage/enclosure to prevent them from ingesting shavings. I have been hesitant because I also know that if you handle them within 48hrs. of eating their is a risk that they will regurgitate their meal when I have to put them back in their regular cage.

Any advice would be helpful, Thanks

Gentle handlings from the feeding box to the enclosure won 't mae them regurge... I do it with my boas all the time... Alot of people do if they use a substrate thats loose like pine shavings or sand or whatever..
