Well, I got 2 questions concerning mites. The 1st is in the title, and the 2nd is, do mites feed on humans if given the opportunity. I read that vpi thing on mites but it didn't have the answer.

Don't know about climb glass but they travel remarkably well. They will jump on you and off of you and into other enclosures. I know some who will deal with the mited snakes last and then strip off their clothes and immediately launder them and shower in good hot water. They are like fleas only worse. I don't know about 'feed' on people but they give me hives, so they must be doing something the few times I have contacted them.

yes they can climb glass...and move very well for their small size. and they will feed on humans if given the chance...I know this one all too well from personal expierence. they bite, and you cant see them well enough to get them off.
I'm not sure if mites can climb glass but I can imagine they can climb up the silicone in the corners pretty easily. Reptile mites don't feed on humans, but we can be a mode of transportation for them...i.e., why it's important not to handle non-infected animals after handling an infected one until you've had a chance to clean up.

I'm not sure about climbing glass but if your snake has mites and you keep it in a terrarium, wipe some vaseline around the top edge of the tank. Herpers that raise roaches for dragons and monitors do this to stop them from getting out. It's a great way to contain the mites and isolate them to one cage.
Thx for the tip. But luckily for me (and unlike most of you guys on here) I only got one snake, and no other reptiles, so the mites will prolly want to stay inside. LOL.
Well I've read a lot of the ways to get ride of mites and about their life cycle and what not. Everytime I soak my snake in warm water for a while, all the adults drown but I dont know about the babies and what not. So I was thinking, if I clean my cage every day and soak my snake everyday, that should kill of most of em, and if there isn't any adults alive to breed, once all the eggs hatch and I kill them off too, won't that solve the problem? I'm hoping cause I dont really have the extra money for like the provent-mites type stuff.
