outback_firekill Jan 11, 2005 10:10 PM

I currently own 3 beardies...two 3 year old males and a 4 1/3 month old female...My First dragon i got is 12 1/2 inches long at 3 years...my second one is 16 inches at 3 years... In the future i am going to breed my smaller male with my female...but i am worried about his size...and how big my girl is gonna get...is there any way i can get my beardies bigger??? or after 3 years is it too late?

If you have been taking good care of your boy with proper supplementation and uvb I doubt he will get much bigger. In my opinion, a dragon that is 12 1/2 inches at 3 years old should never be bred. You have to think about what genes you are passing on and if they are going to make the bearded dragon gene pool stronger. Personally, I would not breed a 16 inch male either. I would say 18 inch minimum but 20 inches or longer is better. If you really want to breed dragons, I would invest in a top quality male with traceable bloodlines. You also want to make sure you have a female that is strong in both length and weight. Good luck
