Strange Acting female R.chahoua

Sabol25 Jan 11, 2005 11:10 PM

I notice about 2 days ago that my female chahoua was kinda not being herself... I placed her into a cage with my male about 4 months ago all seems to have gone well.. She has been hiding under a slab of cork bark for the last 48 hours or less not being very actve.. From what i know R. chahoua dose not deposit there eggs in holes and needs to be incubated at a temp around 83..(and the breeding season seems to run for this speices May to august? why now?

From what i can see my female appears to be gravid.(maybe wishful thinking but).. It not as easy as my U.milli or O.monillis...
Any questions or comments are greatly welcomed...

P.s i did have a slight temp drop for about 4 days about a month ago.. mid 50's for about 7 days..

thanks
Bob Sabol

What is the current temperature in the cage now? It should be in the mid 70's.....74-78 is good. Also, 84 seems like a VERY high temperature bc cresteds are supposed to be like 76, but im not sure so ill let someone else deal with that one.

Sounds like you could be seeing some eggs very soon. Mine have always laid their eggs under a slab of corkbark right on the surface of the soil. The eggs most likely will be attached together and I incubate all my eggs at 74 degrees or so. Also the breeding season for mine seems to run from November/December through August and then they take a 2 month or so break.
