UTH and Rubbermaid/Sterilite containers

nekomi Jan 12, 2005 01:53 AM

Hi all,
I found a bargain on a stacking three-drawer Sterilite system here at my local Wal Mart, and I think it could convert into a set of baby cages pretty easily. However, I do have a quick question. Can I use an under-tank heater (I'm thinking an Ultratherm heat pad) directly on the plastic Sterilite surface, or will this cause it to melt? Are there any alternatives? The three drawers are stacked directly on top of one another, so lights aren't an option.

Thanks for any replies, I think this could be an interesting project!

I know people that have used them as reptile housing and ended up having the snake to escape.. As far as heating you would have to do back heat, but that would be fine for most babies(baby what?).
