Are plants necessary?

Elwood54 Jan 12, 2005 03:57 AM

Just wondering, all I have in my enclosure for my crested is a branch, water bowl, cap for calcium powder, and peat moss as substrate. Do I need to add plants or is it more of an aesthetically pleasing factor?

Thanks

you need plants.....and quite a bit of 'em.

As long as you've got plenty of places to hide and something that takes advantage of vertical height, plants aren't necessary in the least...

but fake plants ( or real ones) are an extremely easy way to create hide spots and are a great way to provide cover which every animal needs to feel secure. just buy a couple cheap fake leafy vines and throw them over the branches.

Ok, well where exactly can you get fake leafy vines? I'm assuming the typical Home Depot etc. but I'd like to confirm...

And yes I do have a branch in there that goes to the top of the enclosure.

go to your local fabric/craft store. they should have the most realistic fake plants. other wise if you want to go big and rip sections off you can get a fake tree or something from lowes, home depot, menards, wal-mart, k-mart. many different places should have them.
